We Are Morehead UMC

In John’s gospel, Jesus says to his disciples, “Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.” In our logo, we’ve tried to capture the essence of this statement. And we truly believe this statement captures the essence of our mission here at Morehead UMC. By God’s grace, we strive to deepen the roots of our relationship with God that we might branch out to our neighbors with the fruit of God’s love.

In the gospel of Mark, Jesus says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” And, in the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus teaches us that loving our neighbor’s means being a good neighbor. And, like a good neighbor, we strive to be the front porch of our community where all our neighbors are always invited, and are made to feel welcomed and at home.
